Harwin Nederhoed - Dutch Champion Sanda!

On Saturday September 13, the Dutch Championships Sanda (Chinese Free Fight) were held in Heerlen, the Netherlands. These championships were organised by Wushu Institute Hoyer, representing the SWN (Foundation for Wushu in The Netherlands - the umbrella organization for Chinese martial arts in the Netherlands).

Wushu Society Bao Trieu/Blijd was represented by Harwin Nederhoed (21 years, studying at the Sports Academy). Harwin had been classified with the advanced fighters (class A) of the category -70 kg, and won his category very convincingly. Because of his good kicking techniques, excellent punches and his terrific shape, Harwin made a very good impression at the championships. Therefor he was invited to participate in the Dutch Sanda selection team.

Sanda (or Sanshou) is the official full contact fighting style of China. A Sanda match is fought on a stage of 8 by 8 meters; besides punching, kicking and throwing, fighters are allowed to push their opponents of the stage; the fighters wear gloves and head/trunk/sheen protectors.
